How We See
Ourselves
The
Church of the Holy Spirit is called by God to be filled with the presence of
Christ as we: Worship, Pray, Minister, Mature in Christ, and Fellowship.
...so that we may
proclaim first to the city of Akron and then to others the new life Jesus
Christ offers to all who turn to Him in faith, which includes: the
forgiveness of sins, the power of the Holy Spirit, and kingdom life.
The specific ways that a
member is called to live out God's vision:
-
Worship of Christ
on Sundays and throughout the week, alone and with others is a primary call
for members of our church.
-
Mission and
Ministry means that a member will pray, give, and minister according to
the giftings of the Spirit which they are given for the furthering of the
vision and the building up of God's people.
-
Teaching means
that a member will seek to learn more about Jesus Christ and the new life He
calls them to by means of sermons, Basic Christianity, fellowship
teachings, and additional opportunities .
-
Prayer means that
I recognize my total need, and the church's need for Jesus Christ's
direction, power, and presence. As a result, a member is in constant
need of spending time with the Lord; listening to Him, and offering prayer
in accord with His will for one's family, church, and self.
-
Community means a
member realizes that they are part of a larger whole and are called to grow
in unity with other Christians. A member is thus called to a life of
fellowship through Sunday services, ministry, and fellowship programs.
