reports from Panama

We’ve made it here and are almost through our first
year.
-
We see progress being made in many areas. We meet on
Sundays with a small group of believers we’ve met
here, and it is a huge blessing to all of us. We
also are very thankful to have found Kendall and
Virginia, the pastor and his wife who come to share
Jesus with our neighbors.

Wood! We’ve been waiting months and haven’t received
all we’ve ordered.
-
Dale is in a lot of pain from his hips that we have
learned have arthritis in them. He’s already had
both knees replaced so we really want healing.

Ministry
opportunities in Panama
-
An old folks home in town is in real need of paint
and beds. Many of the residents sleep in beds that
are falling over. Curtains also could be made.
-
There are many different cultural groups here in
Panama, and surfers and backpackers from all over
the world. The end of the island is filled with
people of Creole descent who speak a
Jamaican-flavored English called wadi wadi. Ministry
opportunities abound with all of these areas.
-
We are currently teaching English and would really
welcome others to help.
-
Construction of a mission base where church groups,
youth groups and other teams interested in
short-term missions can come and stay.
-
Panama is filled with indigenous cultures, and the
Ngobe live all around us. They live in extreme
poverty, and we are asking teams to help teach
skills that will help them improve their lives as
they model the love of Jesus. They need to
understand the fundamentals of clean water,
sanitation, primary health care and vocational
skills that can enable them to get jobs.
-
We are putting together a medical clinic in the fall
and would welcome help with that. We hope to visit a
few different villages and continue to do follow-up
after the clinics.
