How to Participate

Week 12  May 10 – 17, 2008
Chapter 17: pgs. 177-189
Topic: This Present Revival

  1. Review Johnson's 10 descriptors of this present revival. Which is a  stretch for you? Why?
  2. “Revival is not for the faint of heart. It brings fear to the complacent because of the risk it requires.” How does one change a “wineskin”? What does this mean to you personally? What currently constitutes the “norm” for the Christian experience? Do you think God will dramatically make changes in that norm?
  3. “Wisdom is to be displayed by us NOW! It is clear God intends to teach the Spirit realm about His wisdom through those made in His image – us (Ephesians 3.10-11). ...The wisdom of God will again be seen in His people...” Define what “wisdom” means to you. How does God's wisdom come to mankind? How can we teach the spirit realm about His wisdom?
  4. “We will be a Church in which Jesus is seen in His glory! It is the Holy Spirit's presence and anointing that will dominate the Christian life. The Church will be radiant... She will be a Bride without spot or blemish” (182). What do you think must change for us to flow with what God is saying and doing? What do you think it means when the author says, “ We make too many assumptions about the rightness of what already exists”? What are the assumptions the Church has made? What must you do to increase the Holy Spirit's presence and anointing in your life? How will your local church need to prioritize what it does to foster these (H.S. presence and anointing) throughout the congregation?
  5. Excellence is the high standard for what we do because of who we are. Creativity is not only seen in a full restoration of the arts, but is the nature of His people in finding new and better ways to do things. Integrity is the expression of God's character (holiness) seen in us. What must the Church do to change its reputation in these areas? How might you change in your life so people will recognize the nature of God in you and desire it for themselves?
