12 Step Addiction Recovery
What is an addiction?
An addiction is a substance or a behavior that
has become unmanageable in your life. It is the state of being
enslaved to a habit or to something that is psychologically or
physically habitforming to such an extent that when you try to give
it up you experience trauma. You can see destructive results from it
and you may try not to do it but your will power is not overcoming
it. You can't quit. Addictions keep us in bondage but the
addict sees them as a means for gaining a sense of comfort, security
or control. Addictions can feel like consuming passions that drive
you and act as unholy nourishment that always leaves you wanting
more. It is never enough to fill the hole in your heart. Almost
anything can develop into an addiction when we try to use it to
replace the God shaped hole inside of us but here are a few
examples:
