Bringing Christ To Our Neighborhoods

When some think of missions, they imagine hospital ships, medical clinics in remote jungles, and schools in foreign lands. St Luke's is blessed to have missionaries around the world serving in just such environments, fulfilling Christ's command to take the Gospel to ALL of the world.

Closer to home, the mission field can be just as vast and often every bit as needy. To our east, the city of Akron, Ohio has become a primary domestic mission field for us. There, under the guidance of Fr. Scott Souders, a  parish grafted from and supported by St Luke's named Holy Spirit Episcopal Church ministers to the needs of many of the struggling residents of the city.

This hands-on caring church reaches out to the homeless, the substance abusers, the lost and the hungry.

With a growing clothing ministry, food distribution program, weekly free luncheons and a prayer walking ministry in the neighborhood, Holy Spirit Church is making a difference in Akron.
